The Barrerel Car #40 serving West Roxbury and Roslindale shown here previously although with a different crew ca. 1897. This type of car was designed to be completely open in the summer and closed in the winter. Views of the interior of this car are also shown in this collection. The West Roxbury and Roslindale became the Old Colony, then Bay State, and then the Eastern Massachusetts. The Eastern Massachusetts sold or leased the West Roxbury portion of the line to the Boston Elevated Railroad Company (now the MBTA) and continued to operate the portion of the line outside the city.
