The West Roxbury and Roslindale became the Old Colony, then Bay State, and then the Eastern Massachusetts. The Eastern Massachusetts sold or leased the West Roxbury portion of the line to the Boston Elevated Railroad Company (now the MBTA) and continued to operate the portion of the line outside the city.
